Our "Food Safe" finish is 3 coats of Walrus Oil (no walruses were harmed in the making). Two (2) deep soaks of the oil for at least 24 hours each for extra penetration into the wood and then a coat of wax for even extra protection. Most cutting boards you see may only have one cheap, thin coat of an oil from the home goods store. You will love the durability of Walrus Oil and the ease of maintenance.
This wooden cutting board has a really sharp looking starry mountain scene custom engraved in the bottom right corner. The CNC engraving is filled with black epoxy and sanded smooth to the wood surface, so no food can get down in it.
